About Us

Since 2008, Koshi Jan Kalyan Samiti (KJKS) undertook a variety of activities aimed at improving the living conditions and quality of life of undeserved, disadvantaged and needy people in selected rural and urban areas of Bihar through a rights based consultative and knowledge sharing approach with community, civil society and Government. Koshi Jan Kalyan Samiti (KJKS) is a registered not-for-profit organization. It designs and executes its programs through a participatory and consultative process involving all stakeholders on Rights based approach. KJKS has access to cutting edge intellectual resources that enables it to articulate its program strategies and models directed at empowering the poor both economically and socially. KJKS is selective on projects, as it believes in thorough utilization of its resources and expertise.

Our Strategies

Koshi Jan Kalyan Samiti (KJKS) works in partnership with the districts and state government, NGOs and CBOs, Public and Private sector community service providers, corporate sector and the communities to contribute towards improving living conditions of the mother, child and the families living in underserved rural and urban settlements. Strategies include:

  1. Applying scientific methods for situation specific program planning.
  2. Developing and testing effective programming approaches in diverse settings based on traditional knowledge and local expertise.
  3. Facilitating adaptation and replication of these approaches through the development of tools/guides.
  4. Capacity development to improve the conditions and quality of lives of the most disadvantaged people in selected rural and urban areas and the surrounding regions and facilitate sustenance.
  5. Sharing lessons learnt through study tours, workshops and documents.
  6. Utilizing operations research for generating evidence on best practices and promoting them for better programmatic interventions.
  7. Promotion of functional partnerships among public sector, civil society and corporate sector agencies for improving livelihood conditions of children and families living in underserved settlements.
